Notes |
- S. Godbold, Family Grocer, Ainslie and Dickson Streets - New business enterprises show that a community is in a thriving condition, and that it is believed there is room for at least "one more" to engage in traffic. Of no place in Canada can this be better said than of Galt, where thrift, industry and prosperity are going hand in hand together. Last summer Mr. S. Godbold started in the grocery business at what is know as "Business Corner," corner of Dickson and Ainslie Streets. The premises occupied by him are 22x80 feet in dimensions, and are well stocked with a full and complete assortment of staple and fancy groceries, the choicest brands of teas from China and Japan, fragrant coffees from Rio, Java and South American points, pure spices, table delicacies, condiments, flour, hermetically sealed goods, and all other articles usually found in a first-class grocery store. Mr. Godbold was engaged as a soda water manufacturer for three years previous to entering upon the present business, and finds his prospects excellent and his trade steadily increasing. He gives employment to four assistants, and uses a team for the delivery of goods to customers in town and country. He is a native of Canada, and an active, energetic and enterprising business man, and has filled the office of School Trustee in this town for some years, and was for a number of years a teacher in the public schools of Waterloo.
