Notes |
- Carnarvon Tp. Pioneer Passes at Mindemoya
Another of the noble army of pioneers of Manitoulin has passed on to his reward. Mr. Samuel Sinclair came to this island in the fall of 1875, fifty-seven years ago. He settled on concession 5th of Carnarvon Township. He built a log house in the clearing on this lot and his parents came to live with him the next spring.
In 1896 he married Mary Katherine Bock of Spring Bay Post Office. The family moved to Providence Bay in 1902 and nine years ago they came to Mindemoya.
The deceased was highly respected by a large circle of friends. He was of a kindly disposition and enjoyed a joke.
The funeral service on Sunday, March 5th, in the United Church was so largely attended that many were unable to get into the church. Rev. S. J. Proctor and W. H. Bradford conducted the services. The children are: Mrs. Earl Graham, Clifford Russell Sinclair of Sault ste. Marie, and Miss Ada Pearl Sinclair of Mindemoy
The Recorder, Gore Bay, March 9, 1933
