    • Galt Pioneer Is Called By Death

      GALT, April 6. Robert Patrick, one of Galt's oldest residents, is dead. Born in Scotland, he came to Galt with his family in 1853 and had been a continuous resident for 77 years.

      He attended the funeral of Absalom Shade, one of the founders of Galt. His father established a woolen business with which he was connected until 40 years ago, when he purchased the Albion Hotel.

      He was a man of the great outdoors. A noted fisherman and hunter, and until he was 80 years of age, went north to hunt deer, missing only two years in the 36 preceding his last trip.

      In the summer he took walks daily up the Grand River and even last sum- mer followed out an old practice of tak- ing a swim daily in the river.
