  • Notes
    • MACKENDRICK, JENNIE WISHART (Nee Carter)

After a long illness, at 12: 30 on Sunday morning, December 5, 1915, at her home at the corner of Dickson and Ainslie Sts. in Galt. Wife of Dr. H. F. MacKendrick. Although not unexpected, her death comes as a blow to her many friends in Galt, who have been associated with her in charitable work about the city, who especially regret the removal of a bright and winning character. Mrs. MacKendrick was born on the Carter homestead east of Guelph, coming to Galt in her early years and residing with her uncle, the late Thomas Todd. She graduated from the Collegiate Institute, later teaching school in Beverly Township. Of a very unselfish and energetic disposition, all worthy projects found a ready sympathizer in Mrs. MacKendrick. A member of many organizations in the city, of late years her interest centred chiefly in the work of the Y. M. C. A. Auxiliary, where she took a very active part. She was a prominent member of the Shakespeare Club and was very much interested in hospital aid work. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church. The loss of her brightness and cheeriness will be keenly felt in circles where she was known and loved and of her, it might be said that her removal leaves the city of Galt the poorer. Survived by her husband and one son, Harry; two sisters, Mrs. Dr. David Low of Regina, who was in attendance on her during the past two months; Mrs. Charles Drew of Guelph; two brothers, Robert and John of New Jersey, both of whom have visited since her recent illness. Funeral on Tuesday at 2: 30 from her residence to Mount View Cemetery. Rev. M. B. Davidson conducted the service. The pallbearers were all medical men from Galt: Dr. J. H. Radford, Dr. T. W. Vardon, Dr. Adam Thomson, Dr. J. S. Wardlaw, Dr. S. E. Charlton and Dr. D. Buchanan. Floral tributes were numerous and very beautiful.
