- WINE SOUP (FOR INVALIDS)
One tablespoonful flour, yelks of four eggs, the grated peel of a lemon, as much cinnamon as will lay on the point of a knife, a piece of butter the size of a small nut, one pint of wine, sugar to taste. Mix all well together and put on the stove, stirring until it thickens but not boil. Have ready some small dice-shaped pieces of bread, and pour the mixture over it. Light colored wine is the best to use.

Notes |
- Death of Mrs.. R. S. Strong, Sr.
The death of Mrs. R. S. Strong, Sr., which occurred somewhat suddenly about four o'clock on Sunday afternoon, at her residence, West Main Street, is one that be universally regretted in Galt and wherever the deceased lady was known. The news was quite a shock to many of her friends and at first the report could hardly be credited, as it was generally that she was no worse in health than she had been for some time, but it proved only too true, she taking a turn for the worse during the afternoon, passing away about the hour mentioned. The deceased lady returned on Friday evening last, from Detroit, where she and Mr. Strong had spent a few days with their daughter and it was thought the trip had somewhat benefitted her, as she had been in poor health for a long time. Mrs. Strong's maiden name was Mary Dowker, she being the eldest daughter of the late John Dowker, formerly of Terrington, Yorkshire, England. She was married to Mr. Strong at Oakville, Ontario, forty five years ago, coming at once, to Galt to reside, her husband having resided here for some time, previous that. About 1860 the family removed to the farm known As "Purbeck Hill," a short distance out of Galt, on the back road to Hespeler, where they continued to reside until six years, ago, when they removed into town again, taking up their residence on West Main street, in the house now known as "Purbeck House." Deceased will be greatly missed by many in Galt for her numerous kindly acts, but where she will be missed most will be by the husband and family. For forty five years she has been a most loving and faithful helpmate to her now sorrowing husband and as a mother she was kind and loving. The family was an exceedingly affectionate one and the loss of the wife and mother will indeed be a sad blow. She leaves four of a family, Richard S., Arthur D. and Mrs. H. B. Lewis, residing in Galt and Mrs. McWhinney, residing in Detroit.
