  Werlich Alfred Dennis, one of Preston's better-known citizens, died at 8: 30 last evening in St. Mary's hospital, Kitchener. In his 67th year the late Mr. Dennis, known familiarly to many in Preston as "Werlich," had been ailing for the past year. Word of his passing was received with a distinct measure of regret. Born in Galt, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dennis, the deceased resided in Preston the greater part of his life. He received his education in Galt at Central public school and Business College. During the early years of his life he was employed with the late Jacob Werlich as a funeral director in Preston. In 1915, in partnership with Mr. Wright, they operated a furniture and funeral directing business in Preston, known as Dennis and Wright, which they conducted here from 1915 to 1919. For the past 25 years the late Mr. Dennis was employed with the Canadian Buffalo Sled, Preston in the capacity of die maker. An outstanding athlete in his earlier days the deceased was particularly active in lacrosse and hockey, being well-known for his ability in those sports. He maintained a keen interest in sports throughout his lifetime. The late Mr. Dennis was of the Presbyterian faith. Surviving are his wife, Charlotte Loree; a daughter, Mrs. John (Margaret) Couch, of Kitchener; a son, Ira Loree of Waterloo; a sister, Mrs. Martin B. Ewald of Preston, and a brother, Harry R. Dennis of Galt The late Mr. Dennis is resting at the Stager-Pass Ltd. Funeral Home from where the funeral will be held on Thursday at 2: 30. Interment will be in Mountview Cemetery, Galt.
