Notes |
- COLVIN, A. Gordon
At his residence, 140 Pinewood Ave., Cambridge (P), on Saturday, October 28, 1978, dearly loved husband of the late Kathleen Colvin. Father of Martha (Mrs. D. Harris) of Toronto and Robert of Cambridge; brother of Olive (Mrs. Otto Schaus) of Durham and the late Norman and Clarence; lovingly remembered by five grandchildren. A lifelong resident of Cambridge, Mr. Colvin enlisted in the C.E.F. in 1915 following graduation from Galt Collegiate Institute. He served with the infantry in France and was in the battles of the Somme, Vimy Ridge, Hill 70 and Paaschendale. He also saw service with the R.A.F. Keenly interested in and concerned about his community, he served many years as a director of the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital. He was also a past president of the Preston Rotary Club, the past president of the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and past president of the Waterloo County Advisory Board of the CNIB. Private family funeral services were held from the Barthel-Stager Funeral Home, Cambridge (P), Tuesday, October 31.
