• Notes

  George Hancock was born in the village of Sheffield and came to Galt about 1870. He was in the carriage business for many years, eventually selling out to Henderson and Dickson. In 1905 went into partnership with George Thomas in the formation of the general contracting firm of Hancock and Thomas, later known as Thomas Construction Co. Ltd. He retired from the business in 1916. He was an avid curler and was one of the original shareholders in the Galt Rink Co. He died in Hamilton in 1922 Cambridge Mosaic , Jim Quantrell, 1998, City of Cambridge [abbreviated snippet from original text in book] _________________ George Hancock Has successfully conducted a cartage and dray business since 1872 which is constantly increasing. No one is more worthy the confidence placed in him than our mutual friend George, as we familiarly call him.
