    • CAMERON, JOHN MARTIN had his first card in the Dumfries Reformer on May 26, 1887.

      J. M. Cameron M. D. C. M. M. C. P & S O. Office Main Street immediately opposite Bond and Keachie's Livery Stable. Night calls at Office.

      He had come to Galt immediately upon graduation from Victoria University, Cobourg. His family home was in Arthur, but there is no record of his preliminary education.

      During his nearly twenty years in Galt he was active in civic affairs, being an alderman for some time, and a member of the Public School Board. He was on the executive of the Galt Reform Association, and was prominent in the Liberal party.

      In the fall of 1906 he went to Thessalon, later moving to North Yakima, Washington State where he practised with his brother.

      On October 29, 1913 of died of complications following a mastoid operation. He was survived by his widow, in addition to whom some three brothers are listed. He was buried in Arthur.
