___________________________
Dean of Galt's retail business section, Gilbert James "Pat" Little, died early this morning at the South Waterloo Memorial Hospital after several weeks of illness. In his 81st year, Mr. Little was born in Galt, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Little. He spent his entire life in this city with the exception of four years in Chicago, Illinois, in early life. At the age of 15 he joined the T. Little and Son funeral and furniture business, founded by his father 87 years ago, and was associated with the firm for 65 years. He later became president and was actively associated with it until he was taken ill recently. A few years ago he became critically ill but made a remarkable recovery. Mr. Little was widely known throughout the province among morticians and furniture tradesman. In his younger days he was quite active in baseball, curling and fishing and was one of Galt's best known residents. He had a remarkable memory being able to take one back to his boyhood in Galt and name off all the merchants of those days in business on the village's main streets. A lifelong member of Central Presbyterian church, Mr. Little served on several official bodies of that congregation. He was a member of Masonic Order, Galt lodge No. 257 and Waterloo chapter No. 32. He also belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Encampment, and the Canadian Order of Foresters, Manchester lodge. Surviving besides his wife, the former Clara Palmer, is one great-niece, Dianne Lashbrook, and two great-nephews, William and Frederick Lashbrook of Galt. Friends will be received at the T. Little and Son Funeral Home, 39 Grand avenue north. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 13, at 2: 00 p. m. at Central Presbyterian church. Interment will be in Mount View cemetery.
