  FAHRNER, MARY GRACE (Nee McLelland) The funeral of Mrs. Frank Mathew Fahrner, who passed away at Winnipeg on Thursday March 8, 1962, was held Sat., Mar. 10 from the Gladstone United Church at 2. Rev. B. Pogue officiated. Pallbearers: A Zerbin, E. R. Stout, A. E. MacLennan, John McLennan, A. McDiarmid and John Steiss. Mrs. J. D. Rogers presided at the organ and the choir was in attendance. Interment was made in the Gladstone Cemetery. Mary Grace McLelland was born in Galt, ON in 1871. A few years after her marriage to Mr. Fahrner, they decided to make their home in the west. In 1920, they came to Manitoba and in 1903, they moved to a farm in the Helston district, where they farmed until 1938. Following their retirement, they moved to Winnipeg for two years but moved back to Gladstone. Here they have lived happily, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in 1954. After the loss other husband in 1955, Mrs. Fahrner moved to a small home near her son, Fred, his wife and family. She made her home here until illness overtook her, when she spent the last two years at St. Augustine's Nursing Home in Winnipeg. Mrs. Fahrner was a member of the Gladstone United Church, Women's Aid and Women's Missionary Society. During the interval of their lives in the Helston district, they were the initiators of the building of Knox Presbyterian Church, which still stands, one of the nicest small churches in the whole countryside. Survived by a daughter, Mrs. Eva Gould of Winnipeg; two sons, Alwyn of Winnipeg; Fred of Gladstone; seven grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, two daughters, Milda and Vera, and a grand-daughter, Gwen Fahrner in 1955. Her mother, Mary McNabb was born in Puslinch, daughter of Duncan McNabb and Hannah Cameron. -Information from the transcription of Crown Cemetery : Duncan McNab, a native of Perthshire, Scotland, died June 21, 1857, aged 73 years. -Information courtesy of Gail Hawkins: Mary Grace McLelland, born Nov. 13, 1871, was employed as a teacher at Morriston School, where one of her pupils was her future brother-in-law, Will Fahrner. She married Frank Fahrner on Oct. 25, 1893. Vera Isabel Fahrner, daughter of Frank Fahrner and Mary Grace McLelland, was born in 1898 and died Dec. 13, 1911 near Gladstone, MB. Eva Marie Gould (nee Fahrner) was born in 1897 and died July 19, 1972 in Winnipeg.
