    • GINGRICH, Magdalena (Frey) Magdalena was born May 1, 1923 and died December 6, 2011 at age 88 years. She is survived by a sister Hannah Gingrich Martin, and a brother Joseph Gingrich. She was predeceased by three sisters and eight brothers listed in order of age: Annie, Susannah, Israel, Martin, Norman, Osias, Salome, a stillborn brother, and Allen. Magdalena was baptized in the Old Order Mennonite Church in her teen years near Elmira, Ontario area. At age 43 she moved to the Red Lake area, joined the staff of Northern Light Gospel Missions and later became a member of Red Lake Mennonite Church. Her many friends simply knew her as Maggie. She enjoyed reupholstering old furniture or creating something special out of a forsaken object. A special delight for her was landscaping and caring for flowers. Funeral services were held at Red Lake Mennonite Church on December 12 officiated by Alvin Lapp and Henry Hostetler. Interment followed at the Red Lake Cemetery. Donations in Magdalena's memory may be made to Northwood Lodge through Herold Funeral Home, P.O. Box 237, Red Lake, Ontario, P0V 2M0. A special "thank you" to all who have helped with flowers, food, or your presence as we celebrated memories of Maggie together.
