Planing Mill, Concession Street - The industry is well represented in Galt, there being several first-class mills, where they manufacture sash, doors, blinds, etc. Among the number prominently engaged in this business here is Mr. McAuslan, whose planning mill is situated on Concession Street, above the railroad track. This mill was established 30 years ago, at first for making staves and the headings of barrels, and was thereafter changed to do mouldings, sash, doors, blinds, and all kinds of builders' wood-work. The premises occupied are a main building 30x50 feet in dimensions and two stories in height, besides other and detached buildings for storing lumber, sawing, etc. Here employment is given to fifteen competent workmen on an average throughout the year. The trade of the concern extends throughout the town and country and is on a steady increase. The proprietor, Mr. McAuslan, is a native of Canada, and is an energetic, persevering and enterprising business man, who has a through knowledge of a practical nature of his business. He is Second Deputy Reeve of the town, and is highly regarded in the community.
