Notes |
- KAUK, Marie (nee Rehner) - Of Kitchener. It is with great sadness that we announce her passing into the spiritual world at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Friday, March 30, 2007, in her 95th year. Loving and devoted wife of the late Ewald Kauk who predeceased her in 1965. Beloved mother of Robert (deceased), Ewald and his wife Charlene of Parry Sound, Hilda Allison, (husband Raymond-deceased) of London and Reinhold and his wife Patricia of Kitchener. Much cherished grandma of Wayne Allison (deceased) and his wife Susan, Richard and his wife Jan, Gary and his wife Renee, Robert and his wife Lisa, Daniel, Rebecca and fiance Don Miller and Timothy. She will also be deeply missed by her great-grandchildren, Tasha, Ryan, Isabeau, Ngazi, Michaela, Paige, Jake and Nolan. Although deeply saddened by the loss of our mother, we feel gratitude to the Lord that we could share so many years with her and we draw on the saga of her long life as a source of inspiration. We now rejoice at the thought of her longed-for spiritual reunion with our father; her sister, Katherina Kosch and her parents Maria and Johann Rehner. Our mother left her home in Nieder-Eidisch, Transylvania, Rumania at the age of sixteen and arrived in Canada in 1928 ready to begin a new life in the land of opportunity. Her early days in Canada were a struggle, especially as they coincided with the Great Depression, but she was blessed with good health, courage, an enterprising spirit and trust in the Lord. It was in Kitchener where she met our father, the love of her life, whom she married in 1931. Friends and relatives are invited to share their memories of Marie with her family at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King Street West in Kitchener on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 from 1: 30 p.m - 2: 30 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow in the Ratz-Bechtel Chapel at 2: 30 p.m. with Rev. Brad Heinrichs of the Carmel New Church officiating. Interment will take place in Woodland Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family in the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre after the Funeral Service. In Marie's memory, a donation to the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family. We would also like to express our appreciation to our mother's family doctor, Dr. John Neary, who was always so gentle and cheerful in offering her care. In addition, we wish to thank all of the staff at the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre for the kind and patient treatment extended to our mother in 2005 and 2006.
