______________
LAID TO REST
Mrs. Enoch Ziegler's Funeral Was Held This Afternoon
WAS PROBABLY BERLIN'S OLDEST RESIDENT.
The death of Mrs. Enoch Ziegler has awakened a wide-spread interest in the city. She was a fine type of a Christian matron and the mother of a large and respected family children. She was noted tor her Christian virtues and graces, hence hundreds of sorrowing relatives and friends paid their last respects to her memory by attending her funeral, held at two o'clock to-day from the residence of Miss Elizabeth Ziegler, Irvin street.
She was the last member of the late Benjamin Hallman's family who came to Canada from Pennsylvania in the early twenties of last century. Mrs. Ziegler was born in Dumfries township, South Waterloo in 1824 and consequently had passed the 89th milestone of life. Had she lived until next Christmas she would have been the longest-lived member of her father's family. The distinction probably belongs to Mrs. Ziegler having been the oldest continuous resident of Berlin, she having resided here without a break for sixty-six years.
Mrs. Ziegler is survived by six sons and three daughters. The sons' names are Benjamin, of Berlin, John of Seattle, Wash. Albert of Melville, Sask.; Dr. Orlando H. of Toronto, Dr. Cyrus H. of London and Dilman of Woodstock. The daughters are: Mrs. J. R. Eden and Miss Eliabeth Ziegler of Berlin and Mrs. A. T. Boles of Leamington, Ont.
Also the deceased lady is survived by 26 grand-children and 22 great grandchildren.
The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H. S. Hallman of this city, a nephew of the deceased.
The pall-bearers were four sons and two grand-sons, namely. Mr. Benjamin Ziegler of Berlin, Mr. Albert Ziegler of Melville, Sask.; Dr.O. H. Ziegler of Toronto and Dr. C. H Ziegler of Lorion and the grandsons
Mr. H. Leslie Stabler and Mr. George Ziegler of Berlin. After services at the house, the remains were conveyed to Mt. Hope cemetery and interred there beside those of her husband. May she rest in peace.
