  Christner, Katie, daughter of the late Daniel and Anna Zehr, was born Oct. 1, 1890, at Baden, Ont.; passed away at her home in Pigeon, Mich., on March 15, 1956, after a long illness; aged 65 y. 5 m. 14 d. Her husband, Daniel J. Christner, preceded her in death in April 1943. Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Viola Seaman of Bay City, Mich., and Mrs. Emma Heintz of Pigeon; 4 sons, Clayton, of Detroit, Mich.; Walter of Washington, Mich.; Floyd of Muskegon, Mich.; and Orrie of Pigeon; and 3 brothers, Noah, Baden, Ont.; Abraham, Keota, Iowa, and David, Bad Axe, Mich. Funeral services were held March 18 at the Pigeon River Mennonite Church with Willard Mayer and Emanuel Swartzendruber officiating. Burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Gospel Herald - Volume XLIX , Number 15 - April 10, 1956 _________________________ Daniel Christner, of Pigeon, Mich., was born March 6, 1879, near Elkhart, Ind.; died April 3, 1943. He was united in marriage to Katie Zehr. To this union 7 children were born (Orie and Emma of Pigeon; Walter and Viola, Mrs. Emery Seaman, of Detroit, Mich.; Clayton and Floyd in the army; and Bertha who died in infancy). He left to mourn his departure his bereaved companion, 4 sons, 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren, and one brother Jacob of near Pigeon. The funeral was held at the Pigeon River A.M. Church, April 6, 1943. Services at the house were held by Bro. M.S. Zehr, at the church by Bro. Emil Swartzendruber (text, II Cor. 5: 10) and Bro Earl Maust (text, Job 14: 14).
