• Notes

  Edwin John Getty was born in Paris, Ontario and was a resident of Galt for about 60 years. A shoemaker by trade he began making shoes in 1893. In 1899 he went into partnership with F. Stewart Scott to form Getty and Scott, manufacturers of the "The Classic Shoe", high quality childrens' shoes. He served as president until 1912 when he sold his share to his partner and retired.
