      AYR John T. Kay, 72, a resident of Ayr for many years, died at his home yesterday after a lengthy illness. Mr. Kay was born in Preston, Lancashire, England, and came to Canada in 1911, residing in Toronto.

      He served in the First World War with the Queen's Own Rifles. Returning to Canada he settled in Ayr where he had since resided.

      He was a member of Knox United Church. He was a retired. CPR foreman.

      His wife, the former Annie Burton, survives with one son, William Kay of Galt, one grandson, Roger, and two brothers and two sisters in England.

      The funeral will be held Monday at 2 o'clock at the Ball Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Ayr Cemetery. Rev. W. D. Goodger will conduct the services. The body is resting at the funeral home.
