Notes |
- Donald McKeracher
On Tuesday morning, Sept. 3, there passed away a well known and highly respected citizen, in the person of Donald McKeracher, in his 70th year. The late Mr. McKeracher came to this country from his native land of Scotland, with his parents at the early age of ten years and after stopping fur a short time at the then small town of Hamilton, journeyed by horse and wagons to Puslinch township, where they settled near, Aberfoyle. After the death of his parents, he sold the old homestead and removed to Guelph, thence to Galt, where he was in the employ of the Coldie-McCulloch Company, for nearly twelve years. In December 1901, the deceased moved with his family to Preston, where he has resided ever since. Owing to illness and general breakdown, he was forced to retire from his employment with the Canadian Office and School Furniture Company, a little over nine years ago, The deceased who was a member of the Presbyterian church, was formerly an active worker in the Ancient Order of Foresters, Guelph, as well as the Sons of Scotland, Galt. He leases to mourn his loss, a sorrowing wife, three sons and one daughter; Duncan of Toronto, Alexander of Quebec City, Matthew and Miss Jean at home, The funeral will be held from his late home, Duke St., East, to Preston Cemetery, at 3: 00 this Friday afternoon.
