Wendell S. Hallman, Ex-Coloma Business Man, Dies In South
COLOMA, March 2-Word has just reached Coloma of the death and burial at St. Petersburg, Fla., of Wendell S. Hallman, 81, former Coloma business man and industrialist, and ex-village president. He died last Saturday and his funeral was held there on Tuesday this week. He left Coloma 18 years ago and became resident of St. Petersburg.
He was born in Canada March 14, 1863. The family came to a farm near Coloma in 1903, and two years later moved to Coloma.
Wendell Hallman engaged in various businesses in Coloma until his removal to Florida, when he engaged in the citrus marmalade business. He retired from that a year ago.
In Coloma he operated the Coloma Nursery, was manager of the Spellman Pickle plant, a director in the State Bank of Coloma, and was president of the village when the first pavement was laid downtown. He was a member of the Masons.
Surviving him are his widow Minnie, a son, Austin, in Muskegon, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hollath of Detroit, and Mrs. Harold Peirce of Watervliet and six grandchildren.
