    • Death of Mr. S. C. Livett

      We regret to announce the death of this gentleman, which took place at his residence, Rose Street, on Monday last. Mr. Livett was well-known in Galt and vicinity, having for many years carried on business in the town. He has been suffering from consumption for five or six years past, and at time was so low that it seemed impossible for him again to get about; but this indomitable self-will and courage always asserted itself on these occasions, and after a short absence he would again make his appearance on our streets. The past winter was a severe one for him; but since the warm weather set in he had been driven out on several occasions. One Monday he was seized with bleeding of the lungs, and after a few hours suffering passed calmly away. Mr. Livett was an energetic, pushing man and if his health had been spared would doubtless have made his mark in business circles. He was a native of England, and was in the 45th year of his age.

      Mr. Livett having been a member of Waterloo Lodge of Odd fellows, that body turned out in strength at the funeral on Wednesday afternoon. The services at the grave were conducted by Revs. J. K. Smith and Waddell, after which the impressive rites of the Odd Fellows were performed by Chaplain Nelles.
