  	SMOTHERED OYSTERS. Put one tablespoonful of butter in a covered saucepan with half a saltspoonful of white pepper, one teaspoon-ful of salt and a few grains of cayenne pepper. When hot add one pint of oysters carefully prepared. Cover closely and shake the pan to keep the oysters from sticking. Cook five minutes and serve on toasted crackers. ________________ CREAM PUFFS One cupful water, half cupful butter, one cupful flour, three eggs. Boil water and butter together and stir in the flour while boiling; take from the fire and when cool stir in the eggs gradually, not beaten. Drop in large spoonfuls in muffin rings. Bake twenty-five minutes in a hot oven, and avoid opening oven door. Cream filling for puffs '97 Five even teaspoonfuls of flour, one cupful of milk, half cupful of sugar, one egg. Beat egg and sugar together, add flour, stir all into the milk while boiling. Open cakes with a knife and fill.

  I don't know if this is any help or not (I am just starting our family history) but I was going through some papers that have the name Miss Isabella Hay Lumsden of Belhelvie Lodge on them. It says she lived at 13 McMaster Ave, Toronto, Ontario and died on or about April 8th, 1957. She had no children and never married. Her father was John McVeagh Lumsden who lived at Galt Waterloo County, Canada and died on or about Sept. 27th 1898. He was the second son of Colonel Thomas Lumsden and had a brother named Thomas.
