    • OLD PIONEER DIED NEAR COLONA

      Mrs. Annie T. Martin, one of the early pioneers to the Uncompabgre valled [Valley], died at ten o'clock Tuesday morning at the ranch home of her son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Uri Hotchkiss, near Colona from heart trouble.

      The deceased was 83 years old last April and has been a resident of the valley, died at ten o'clock Tuesday years she lived with her husband, George Martin, in the vicinity of Cow Creek, but since his death several years ago, has made her home at Colona and later at the home of lier daughter, Mrs. Uri Hotchkiss.

      She was the mother of nine children. four of whom are residents in this vicinity. The children are Mrs. W. R. Hotchkiss of Montrose. Mrs. Vrl Hotchkiss of Colona, Mrs. George Jeynes of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. H. P. Bailey of Galt, Ontario, Can.; Dr. George Martin of Tucson, Arlz., and John and Fred Martin, who are now living near Cow Creek.

      The funeral will be held at the Hotchkiss home near Colona Thursday morning and the deceased will be buried on Cow Creek, beside the remains of her husband and son.

      Mrs. Martin was well and favorably known thruout the valley and during her long residence in this vicinity has made a host of friends who will mourn her death. She was ever a gentle mother and loving wife and her loss will be keenly felt by those whom she has left behind.
