- Harry G. Forler
A grocery store owner in Centreville for the past 20 years and a past president of Preston branch of the Canadian Legion, Harry G. Forler, 65, of Centreville, died suddenly at his home Sunday after a heart attack.
Mr. Forler was instrumental in the building of a new legion hall in Preston. He was a member of Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club, Cobourg Masonic Lodge and chairman of SS 5 School Board, Waterloo Township. A veteran of the First World War, he was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
A son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Forler, he was born in Philipsburg. His wife, the former Myrtle Betzner, survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Arthur of Centreville, and Douglas of Guelph; one brother, Edward of Kitchener and three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Emma) Stiefelmeyer and Mrs. William (Mary) Witt, both of Kitchener, and Mrs. Edward (Olive) Engel of Waterloo. There are six grandchildren.
One son, Kenneth, and three brothers, Herbert, William and Elmer, predeceased him. The body is at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Rev. Karl Knauff will officiate.
