    • Frederick Kurschninski was the son of August Kurschinski who emigrated to Canada from the province of Westprussia in Germany, near the Polish border. He married Katherine Hectus, of the village of Conestogo, Ontario. They had three children - Mabel, Bernice and Clayton. Land records and school registers reveal that this family lived in Bloomingdale from 1894 to 1906. He was employed as a fireman in the local sawmill. In 1906 the family moved to Conestoga on a small property of seven acres where successful market gardening was carried on. At this time Mr. Kurschinski was fireman at the fee mill there. In 1914 they moved to Rosendale on the former Abraham Baumann placed and had a market gardening business. Mr. Kurschinski has been described as a well built man weighing from 200 to 225 lbs. On Jan. 31, 1921 he sold the property to Henry Shantz, of Waterloo Township, and moved to Bridgeport.
