  HELMUTH, Norman Moses \endash Passed away, peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday April 3, 2004 at St. Mary's General Hospital in Kitchener. Norman resided in New Hamburg and was formerly of Baden. He was born 84 years in Wilmot township, a son of the late Emmanuel and Edith (Boshart) Helmuth. Norman was a member of St. Agatha Mennonite Church. He was a long time volunteer with Mennonite Central Committee and had managed the original New Hamburg Thrift Store. He enjoyed gardening, woodcarving and growing plants. Beloved husband of Vera (Nafziger) Helmuth whom he married March 9, 1943. Loving father of Paul and Eilene Helmuth of Baden, Joan and Eric Yoder and Dennis and Lovetta Helmuth, all of Rosthern, Sask., Doris and the late Bruce Schmidt of Bala, Peter Helmuth and Faith and Randy Haffner, all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by grandchildren, Anthony and Christine Helmuth and son Liam, Carla Helmuth, Matthew and Tim Yoder, Melanie and the late Trevor Schmidt, Dennison, Tyler and Tim Helmuth, Kyle and Robin Haffner, Kara Haffner and fiancé David Onofrio, Kasey Haffner and friend Christopher Lacroix. Dear brother of Elmer Schwartzentruber of Cambridge, Marie Gingerich of Zurich, Willard and Dorothy Schwartzentruber of Listowel, Gerald and Martha Schwartzentruber of New Hamburg and Laverne and Marjorie Schwartzentruber of Baden. Also remembered by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Hilda Mae Helmuth of Moorefield, Roy and Luella Nafziger of Waterloo and Dora Wagler of New Hamburg as well as many nieces and nephews. Norman was predeceased by his step-father, Moses Schwartzentruber and by sister, Violet and her husband Wilbur Faulhafer; brother,Walter Helmuth; sister-in-law, Marg Schwartzentruber and brothers-in-law, Wallace Gingerich, Lorne Wagler and John and his wife Mildred Nafziger. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Wednesday April 7, 2004 a private interment will take place at St. Agatha Mennonite Cemetery followed by a memorial service at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Doug Snyder officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee of the charity of one's choice.
