- Herchenratter, Arthur J. - At K-W Hospital, on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 1989, age 71 years, of 812-65 Westmount Rd. N., Waterloo. Mr. Herchenratter was retired from Uniroyal in 1980 after 33 years of service in the textile division. He served overseas in the Second World War with the Canadian Army, Perth regiment. He was a past member of the Kiwanis Organization and was a well known local hockey player. He played professionally with the Detroit Red Wings until the beginning of the Second World War and after the war played locally for the K-W Dutchmen and coached the Elmira Junior B team. Predeceased by his parents, Conrad Herchenratter and the former Pauline Schmidt and one brother, Norman. Beloved husband of Dorothy (Mertz); dear father of Susan and her husband Gary Alderson of Waterloo and James and his wife Mardi of Burlington; brother of Estelle and her husband Alvin Reinhart, Alma Herchenratter and August and his wife Joanne, all of Kitchener-Waterloo. He is also lovingly remembered by two granddaughters, Lori and Lynn Alderson. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service for friends and relatives will be held in the chapel of the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Roy Grosz officiating. Donations to the K-W Leukemia Association of the K-W Hospital Emergency Department Building Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
