- Death of Chris Hebel
A well-known and highly respected citizen of our village passed away on Thursday last in the person of Mr. Christopher Hebel, at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 24 days, following an illness of four months duration. Born in North Easthope, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich Hebel, the deceased was married to Mrs. Mary Lippert, of Victoriaburg, forty-one years ago. He was a blacksmith by trade and carried on this occupation at Lisbon, Philipsburg and for the past 25 years at Baden. Besides his widow he leaves t mourn his demise 2 sons and three daughters, Fred of Cleveland, William at home, Mrs. Chas. Diestelmeyer and Mrs. Horace Lederman, Kitchener, and Mrs. Gladys McBriarty, of Chicago. He is also survived by two brothers, Wm. Hebel, of Kitchener, and Henry of Kansan City. The funeral which took place on Sunday afternoon from his late residence to Baden (St. Jacob's) Lutheran church, was largely attended, many relatives and friends being present from Kitchener, Walkerton, Breslau, Bridgeport, Shakespeare and Philipsburg. Interment was made in Fairmount Cemetery. Rev. J. L. Kirchhofer, of Philipsburg, conducted the funeral services.
