  • Notes
    • James R. Fraser Passes - Word was received by his niece, Mrs. R. Bruce Carswell of Glenmorris, of the death in Vancouver, B.C., on Monday of James R. Fraser in his 83rd year. He was born on the farm now occupied by Jack George, on the Ayr-Wrigley's Road, a son of the late John B. Fraser and Janet M. Renwick. The farm was cleared by his mother's people and was known as the Renwick place. As a young man he left North Dumfries for Vancouver, where he was a carpenter and house mover. He was active in the Masonic Lodge in that city and for 40 years was treasurer of Cedar Cottage United Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Louise Gimby; daughters, Mrs. Everett (Jean) Crowley of Vancouver, Mrs. Arthur (Evelyn) Dickey of Williams Lake, B.C., and Mrs. Douglas (Dorothy) Baird of Ottawa; also two sisters, Mrs. James (Mame) Sharp of Glenmorris and Mrs. Albert (Nettie) Williamson of Sheffield. Eleven grandchildren also survive. A son, Jack, predeceased him in 1962. Funeral service will be held on Thursday with interment in Vancouver.
