  Alexander Gray of the Village of Ayr was married to Sarah Ann McCall of East Flamborough Township, 14 Oct. 1879. (Heritage Happenings, Waterdown-E. Flamborough Heritage Soc., March 1997.) ___________________________ Death of Mrs. Alexander Gray - the death occurred in Galt Hospital on Friday, August 10th, after a short illness, of Sarah McCall, of Ayr, widow of the late Alexander Gray, in her 70th year. Mrs. Gray was born near Hamilton, and came to Greenfield with her husband about 49 years ago where Mr. Gray was employed as a cooper for a long number of years. On the death of her husband Mrs. Gray removed to Ayr some 8 years ago where she had since resided. She was a valued member of the former Ayr Methodist Church where she attended service regularly and took a deep interest in all matters pertaining to that organization. Of a modest and retiring disposition, she confined her efforts chiefly to the home where she set a high example for her family to follow and was looked upon as a model mother. She is survived by two sons and two daughters, as follows: Norman, Blenheim; Edward, Fling, Mich.; Mrs. Walter Scott, North Dumfries; and Maude, at home. One sister, Mrs. Thomas Ross, Moosmim, Man., also survives. The funeral, which was largely attended, took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Currie, and the pallbearers were: Messrs. J. W. Hunt, J. J. Hodgson, George C. Smye, William Bain, William H. Patterson and Alex Gourlay. The Ayr News Aug 16 1928 pg 1
