Edward Hawes Passes

Edward Hawes, a native of Ayr, passed away December 8th at the Mississauga Hospital. He was 83. Mr. Hawes was one of the last surviving members of the 111th Battalion of Galt which served overseas during World War I. Dearly beloved husband of Laverna Stirling; father of Jack, James and Donald; also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Predeceased by two sisters Mrs. Pearl Fritz and Mrs. Annie Gress; also three brother Eph, Arthur and Melvin. Funeral service was held at the Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel on December 10th with interment in Ayr Cemetery.
