Who for a Number of Years Was Prominent in the Life of the Community

No death in recent years has cast a deeper gloom over the community than that of William Anderson Reid, which sad event occurred on Thursday, March 30th. The deceased was a man of genial disposition and had a host of warm friends wherever he was known. Born in Reidsville a little over 50 years ago, he spent nearly all his life in the immediate community. In 1902 he was joined in wedlock with Miss Jennie Edgar. A miller by trade, he was for many years in charge of the Goldie Mills at Greenfield and during the war held a Government position in connection with the Wheat Commission at Montreal and St. Johns. A few years ago he was a Village Councillor for a term, and was a past master in the Masonic Order. In politics he was a Liberal and in religion a Presbyterian, being a member of Knox United Church. Besides his wife he is survived by two brothers and a sister: John Q., W. I., and Miss Clara Reid, all of Ayr.

The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, when interment was made in the Ayr cemetery, Rev. J. J. Brown having charge of the service.

The pallbearers were Messrs. Judson Everlett, Adam Douglas, Thos. Hall, W. A. Ramsay, Edwin and Alex. Reid. Among the relatives from a distance who attended the obsequies were Messrs. Brooks and Payne, Woodstock, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. McKenzie, Stratford, Mrs. Peebles, Atwood, and Miss Bickel!, Toronto.
