  Tragic Death of John Gemmell The sudden and tragic death occurred at the home of John G. Welsh on Tuesday evening of John Gemmell, aged 57 years. The late Mr. Gemmell was born on the Gemmell homestead in North Dumfries, now occupied by Ken Perriman, the son of the late John Gemmell and Rachael Lothian. Early in life he entered the service of the Canadian Bank of Commerce here. His banking career was quite successful and he was eventually transferred to the head office in Toronto, where he later resigned. He returned to the homestead to assist his brother David. Following the death of his brother, two and a half years ago, he took up residence at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Welsh. He was an adherent of Knox United Church. Surviving are a sister, Jessie, Ayr, and a half-sister, Mrs. James Welsh (Rose), North Dumfries. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon, with private service at the home of his sister, Miss Jessie Gemmell, Hall Street. The Ayr News Apr 13 1950
