  Died In Ayr, on Saturday, June 14, 1947 Jeannie Douglas Edgar Widow of W.A. Reid, in her 79th year. The Funeral Will take place from her late residence, Elliott Street, Ayr, on Monday, June 16th, at 2.30 p.m., to the Ayr Cemetery. Reid The sudden death occurred on Saturday of Jeannie Douglas Edgar, widow of W. A. Reid, in her 79th year. Mrs. Reid was born at Reidsville, a daughter of John Edgar and Agnes Anderson. She was married in Ayr in the year 1902 to W. A. Reid, who predeceased her in 1922. Mrs. Reid had resided in this community for the whole of her lifetime and was highly regarded by a wide circle of friends. She was a valued member of Knox United Church and took a keen interest in the activities of the different women's organizations of the congregation. Mrs. Reid was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. The Funeral The funeral, which took place from her late residence on Elliott street on Monday afternoon to the Ayr Cemetery, was largely attended by many friends and relatives. The services were in charge of Rev. J. W. Currie. A quartette, comprising E. C. Krantz, A. M. Cochrane, G. H. Lawrence and J. C. Swan, sang the beautiful selection, "The Old Rugged Cross". The pallbearers were three nephews, Arnold Edgar and Alvin Edgar, London and J. Howard Reid, Ayr; two cousins, Cameron Edgar and Anderson Marshall, Ayr and F. R. McGrogan, Ayr. Friends and relatives were present from the following out-of-town points: Gorrie, Molesworth, London, Toronto, Galt and Paris. The Ayr News Jun 19 1947
