- The death of William Hope occurred at a London hospital on Friday, Nov. 19. Mr. Hope was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Hope, born Sept. 29, 1869. He farmed on the old Hope homestead now owned by Mervyn Becker, one mile north of Roseville until 1942, when he retired to Roseville. He was a valued member of the local United Brethren Church and a Sunday School teacher for many years.
He was survived by one brother, James Hope of Roseville, two sisters, Ellen and Mary and two brothers, Robert and Thomas, predeceased him.
The funeral was held Monday afternoon from his residence. The minister, Rev. E. Sider, assisted by Rev. E. Gingerich of Kitchener and Rev. R. R. Kauth, conducted the service. Pallbearers were David McDonald, Clare Douglas, Stanley Hilborn, Edgar Latsch, Ross Perrin and Melvin Becker. Interment was in Ayr cemetery.
Among friends from a distance attending the funeral on Monday were Mr. and Mrs. William Black, Mrs. James Brown, Messrs. Carl and George Black, Mr. and Mrs. John Newstead and son Billy of Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Emmerson Harkness and Mrs. Keneth McDonald of Glenmorris and Mr. Roy Baxter of Drumbo.
