Notes |
- Died Unexpectedly - John Grant McDonald Passes Away - Ill Only a Short Time
McDONALD - In North Dumfries, on Tuesday, Oct. 28th, 1924, John Grant McDonald. The deceased had been ailing only a few days, and his somewhat sudden and entirely unexpected demise sensibly shocked the community. He was on the threshold of his prime, and was apparently of robust physique. Left at a comparatively early age by the death of his father to manage the farm and take care of his mother, he had responsibilities thrust upon him that come to few young men in early life, but by reason of steady habits and close attention to industry and sound business principles he succeeded admirably. Besides these commendable traits, he was also possessed of remarkable filial love, also a love for home and the best interests of the family and the community at large. A wide circle of relatives, friends and acquaintances will join in regretting the rather abrupt termination of what promised to be a long and useful life. By his early removal from the sphere of mundane activities, we are again forcibly reminded that while "man proposes, God disposes." The funeral will take place from the residence of deceased's mother, Mrs. James McDonald, Cedar Creek Road, on Thursday, Oct. 30th, at 2 p, m., to the Ayr cemetery.
