Berlin Officials Anxious to Get Rid of Allan Rellinger

Berlin, Ont., Dec. 5.-(Special) - Allan Rellinger, who was found guilty on Friday before Judge Chisholm of burglarising the home of James Bruce, a farmer in North Dumfries, and was sentenced to five years in Kinston penitentiary, was taken to that place this morning by Detective Huber.

His early removal is due to the fact that during his incarceration he had fought with the guards and was considered, a very dangerous man.

      NOW IN BERLIN JAIL

Night Watchman and Constable Gerbig was routed out of bed on Thursday afternoon by a messenger from near Mannheim, who brought the Information that a young man - Allan Rellinger was crazy, and had to be taken in charge. Mr. Gerbig took County Constable Martin Huehnergard with him and they took Rellinger in charge. He had been staying with his sister and in his weakness of reason he let the vinegar run out of two barrels; broke property and did other damage. On Thursday afternoon he ran away, dressed only in a shirt and was finally caught in Mr. S. Herner's barn. There he was clothed.

The man, who is single and between 25 and 30 years of age, was brought to town about 6 o'clock.

      ___________

      BOTH DISCHARGED.

The Berlin jail is a good place for persons of unsound mind to regain their reason. Both Mrs. Snyder, of Preston, and Allan Rellinger, of Roseville, have been discharged as possessed of sound mentality.

      ___________

A QUEER PRIDE LED TO HIS DOWNFALL.

It is a source of pride to Allan Rellinger that he served six months in the Central Prison. When going to Kingston Penitentary a stort [short] time ago he was proud for another reason. The cause of his pride this time was the silvered anklets that held his feet together. This jewelry Allan was pleased to exhibit and many times when in the train held his feet up to full view in order that his fellow-passengers might see and be amazed at the splendor. Arriving at the Penitentary Allan told the Warden first thing that he had put in a term at Central. "Oh, then," the official replied, "you will have accustomed yourself to prison life. Now we know that you are a second offender," The effect of the confession was that Rellinger was placed at hard labor. He is now a member of the brick and mortar gang.
