    • 107 Year Old Depot Purchased for $25
by Earl Werstine 8 Nov 1962

A landmark is disappearing from the Village of Branchton in the razing of the Old Canadian Nation Depot which I am told was built in 1856...

Accoring to "Sandy" Mitchell, who has lived in the village for 32 years, 25 of which he was a clerk in Laing's grocery store, now operated by Jack Bell.. Sandy Mitchell told us that the station agent he knew best was Wm. Forster, who held the job for many years and after his retirement, there wasa a temporaty agent for a brief period before Branch was taken off the railway map because of the lack of business. he recalled how Mrs. Forster was a great lover of flowers and when the railway provided plants she had one of the beautiful and best kept station properties between Guelph and Hamilton on the branch line..
