• Notes

  An old and respected resident of Elma township departed this life Wednesday, June 7th in the person of Jacob [sic Joseph] Steckley who was in his 75th year. Mr. Steckley had not been in good health since spring but had been able to go about until a few days before his death. The remains were interred on the Saturday in the Mennonite cemetery on the 7th line. Mr. Steckley was born in the Township of Wilmot. Over 50 years ago he married Mary Wagler who still survives him. A family of 9 sons and daughters blessed the union the following of whom survive; Joseph, Solomon, Moses, David, and Peter, Elma, Nicholas, Wilmot. Mrs. Chris. Jantzi, Brunner and Susan, at home. Mr. Steckley had been a resident of Elma township for nearly 50 years and was held in the very highest esteem in the community in which he lived. Milverton Sun, 22 Jun 1911, p. 1
