  Allan Bowman, "the third son of Samuel W. Baumann, was born in the town of Waterloo, March 11th, 1841. He resides at Blair, on the old "Joseph Baumann" farm. He leads a retired life. Some years ago the Dominion Government appointed him as Excise Officer at Galt, which position he still holds. He is married to Nancy Bowman. Their family consists of four children" Eby, Ezra E. A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. ___________________ Allan owned the Blair Carlisle Flour Mill from 1881 to 1884 and is credited by some to have built the Sheaves Tower to provide additional power to the mill.
