- Allan Bowman, "the third son of Samuel W. Baumann, was born in the town of Waterloo, March 11th, 1841. He resides at Blair, on the old "Joseph Baumann" farm. He leads a retired life. Some years ago the Dominion Government appointed him as Excise Officer at Galt, which position he still holds. He is married to Nancy Bowman. Their family consists of four children"

Allan owned the Blair Carlisle Flour Mill from 1881 to 1884 and is credited by some to have built the Sheaves Tower to provide additional power to the mill. He also served as a Dominion Excise Office in Galt.
