- Percy MacFarlane
Percy R. MacFarlane, an Elmira businessman and a former reeve, died at his home at 3 Bluejay Road Friday afternoon after being released from K-W Hospital in Kitchener where he had been a patient for three weeks. He was 68.
Mr. MacFarlane had suffered a heart attack three weeks ago and was released from hospital at noon Friday.
Born in Shakespeare Dec. 27, 1900, he operated a butcher shop in Elmira from 1933 to 1946. He then went into the farm implement business and operated MacFarlane's Farm Supplies until the time of his death.
Mr. MacFarlane served as a town councillor for a number of years and for two years as reeve. He also served for several years on the town planning board.
He was a member of Glenrose Lodge No. 628. Elmira; the Guelph Valley of the Scottish Rite; the Moore Sovereign Consistory; Mocha Temple Shrine, London; and Wesley United Church of Elmira
Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lovina MacFarlane, Plattsville; his wife, the former Beatrice Fenn; one son, Robert of Elmira; six brothers, Wesley and Harold of New Hamburg, Sydney of Kentville, James of Kitchener, John of Listowel, Robert of Plattsville; four sisters Mrs. Lloyd (Veryl) Pogson, Mrs. Edwin (Anne) Fergusson, both of Baden, Mrs. Herma (Fern) Cherry of Sarasota, Florida, Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Pattison of Southfield, Mich. Also surviving is one grandson.
Funeral service was conducted at the Dreisinger Funeral Home in Elmira on Monday, Rev. E.W. Shaw officiating.
Burial was in Elmira cemetery.
