    • THE LATE MR. BROWNLOW

      A number of the older residents of Galt, will learn with regret of the sudden death of Mr. Thos. Brownlow, a prominent dry goods merchant of Winnipeg, who about two weeks ago, while on a business trip to Toronto, was stricken with typhoid fever. He was removed to the General Hospital in that city, but despite the efforts of the medical men of that institution, he gradually grew worse and passed away on Sunday. Deceased came to Galt about 1856, as manager of a branch store for R. Walker & Son, of Toronto. He finally bought them out and carried on a dry goods and grocery business, until 1878, when he sold out to Messrs. Mickelborough & Wilkinson. He then engaged in the wholesale dry goods business at Toronto, until 1880, when he removed to Winnipeg, where he has ever since carried on a successful business. He was married in 1858 to Mary Wilkinson, a sister of Mr. Robert Wilkinson, of this town and leaves his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Ross of Calgary and a son in Owen Sound, to mourn his loss. The remains were sent to Winnipeg, on Monday, for interment.
