    • 80-Year-Old Man Fatally Hurt

      Fractured Skull in Fall Down Stairs at Home

      Eighty- year - old. Alexander Schmitt. 90 Church street, died St. Mary's Hospital late yesterday afternoon from the effects of tumble down the stairs at his home. Mr. Schmitt had suffered a fractured skull. The injury, complicated by a heart condition, caused his death.

      Coroner C. C. Belyea, who investigated, reported that Mr. Schmitt fell shortly after 12. noon yesterday and died about four hours after admittance to hospital. No inquest will be held.

      Mr. Schmitt was a former cooper and hotel keeper but had been retired for the last 15 years.

      He was born in New Dundee, March 1, 1838. He was married to Margaret Leyes, who predeceased him 17 years ago. He attended St. Joseph's church

      Surviving are four sons. William, Albert and Jerome of Kitchener. and Hubert of Fort William, one daughter, Sister M. Alexia, Washington, D.C. one brother, Frank Schmitt, Kitchener, and one sister, Mrs. Lena Forler, Kitchener. Five grandchildren also survive.

      Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's church at nine o'clock Thursday morning to Mount Hope Cemetery, The remains will be R.C, at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home until Wednesday afternoon, when they will be taken to the residence.
