  In the mid 1970s William L. DECOURSEY of Minneapolis, MN received from William DUNCAN of Grand Rapids Michigan, a Family BIBLE that had originally belonged to Jacob SCHMITT. The Bible was printed in the German language as well as a handwritten family record of the Schmitt Family. About 1999, Mr. DECOURSEY, who had only a step-relationship to the SCHMITT family, turned the Bible over to Pam HANABURY of St. Joseph, Missouri who is a direct descendant of Jacob SCHMITT, for the purpose of having the family Bible record translated to English. The Bible remains in her possession as of 2015. Following is a copy of an email message received from her in February 2003 in it's entirety. --- Subject: Jacob Schmidt Bible Date: Tue, 11 Feb 2003 10:17:36 -0600 From: "Pam Hanabury" To: "Bill DeCoursey" "It is finally me with some answers on the Bible. My former colleague who taught German retired and never seemed to have the time to translate the Bible for me, so I finally found a lady who was a friend of a friend of mine. Anyway after three years, here's what information it held:" MARRIAGES: Jacob Schmitt (Steinfeltc, Germany) and Margaretha Roor (Dettweiter-Alcasc) were married 7 April 1833. Their children were listed just like this BIRTHS: dau. 21 Feb 1834 Margaretha; dau. 21 Nov 1836 Elisebetha; dau. 15 Dec 1838 Katherina; dau 29 Dec 1840 Salania; dau. 2 Jan 1843 Ana Maria; son 17 Mar 1845 Johan Jacob; dau. 18 Jan 1848 Larlina; dau. 9 Apr 1850 Sophia; dau. 3 Mar 1853 Lucinda Barbara; dau 10 Oct 1856 Allise Lunyice; (She m. Isaac DeCoursey as his 2nd wife.) son 21 Jun 1859 Karl Heinrig Johan. (this is the Henry C. that I was aware of; obviously he preferred Henry to Karl ) DEATHS: Jacob Schmitt 4 Oct 1873 evening 4:45 pm, age 63 years, 11 Months, 26 days; church funeral...
