Notes |
- JACKSON, J. PHILIP was a graduate of the University of Toronto Medical Faculty in 1865. He first practised in Stratford, and moved to Berlin in 1875. His card on January 21 said that his office was four doors south of the Lutheran church.
The Daily News in 1878 remarked that he was a member of the executive of the Berlin Liberal Conservative Association.
He died on January 4, 1879 when the Berlin News carried this item:
We regret very much to notice the death of Dr. Jackson of this town, which occurred at his residence this morning.
He had been ailing for some time, but no one had the least idea that his ailment would prove fatal. The immediate cause of his death his medical attendant informs us, was gastritis. Dr. Jackson was only thirty six years of age when he died.
He had been a resident here about five years, before which time he had practiced his profession some seven or eight years in Stratford. He was a graduate of Toronto University where he took his degree at the early age of twenty three.
He was of a generous nature and had no end of warm friends who will deeply regret to hear of his untimely death.
