- Henry Schenk
The death occurred at Walkerton on July 14 of Henry Schenk, a well known former resident of Kitchener and district. The deceased was born in Wesson, Germany on July 31, 1847 and came with his parents to Canada early in the spring of 1848, He was aged 82 years, 11 months and 13 days and his demise was due to internal obstruction. For many years Mr. Schenk farmed successfully two miles south of Mannheim on the Huron road but in 1916 he sold his farm and retired to Kitchener where he lived till April 27 when he moved to Walkerton with his son, John. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church, this city, in religion, and in politics he was staunch Conservative. He was predeceased by some six years by his wife who before her marriage was Miss Wilhelmina Allès. He is survived by four sons, Andrew of Mannheim John of Walkerton, Herman and William of Kitchener and by 12 grand children. Five sons predeceased him. Also surviving are two sisters. Mrs. Mary Alles of Idaho, U.S.A. and Mrs. Louisa Alles of Milverton. The funeral will be held tomorrow, July 17 at 2.30 o'clock (daylight saving time) from 39 West Lancaster street Kitchener, the home of his son. Herman. Service will be held at St. Matthew's Lutheran church. Benton street. and interment will be made in the East End Lutheran cemetery. Rev. J. Schmieder, the church will officiate
