    • James B. Weir - (By Chronicle Correspondent) - MILLBANK - James B. Weir, who met death in Toronto on Friday evening, November 3rd, as a result of being struck by a car, was a former resident of this community. He was the second son of Samuel Weir and Elizabeth Laidlaw. He was born in Ayr in 1860, coming with his parents to Poole where his father conducted a blacksmith shop, later moving to the Weir farm which is now owned by Mr. George Schmidt. He attended Millbank Public School and was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. He was active in the social activities of his church and also of the community.

      He was married twice. In 1893 he married Miss Lizzie Fraser and lived in Millbank until her death, then going to Stratford. Several years later he was married to Miss Ella Roberts of Stratford, who survives with a family of five, namely, Norman of Tillsonburg, Mrs. Logan, Mrs. Norman Allworth, Chrighton and Lois of Toronto; also one brother, John of Millbank, and one sister, Mrs. Alex. Hammond of Wellesley. Mr. Weir, who was in his 79th year, was a retired salesman and was widely known throughout the province.

      Funeral services were held in Toronto on Monday, Nov. 6th, with interment there.
