- Ervin Rickert - Ervin Rickert, 83, formerly of Lancaster Street East, died Tuesday at the Avondale Nursing Home, Waterloo, after a brief illness. Born in Mannheim, Ont., a son of the last Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Rickert, he had lived in the Twin Cities for the last 57 years. He was employed by Kitchener Lumber Co. Ltd. for many years, retiring in 1951. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, and of the Golden Age Fellowship at the church. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Matilda Schott, in Nov. 1964, and also by two sons on active service overseas during the Second World War, and by one sister. Surviving are one son, Clarence of Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Eileen) Holtz and Mrs. Arthur (Gertrude) Schmetzer, both of Kitchener; four brothers, Addison, Harvey and Lloyd, all of Kitchener, and Sydney, of Windsor; and 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, where funeral service will be conducted at 3 pm Thursday by Rev. Dr. John Schmieder, of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.
