  GERBER, Emanuel - Passed away peacefully, on Thursday, Feb. 6, 1986, at Stratford General Hospital, Emanuel Gerber of 101 Hendershot St., Tavistock, in his 89th year. He was born in Crosshill, son of the late Michael Gerber and the former Veronica Jantzi. He was a member of Steinman Mennonite Church, RR 2, Baden. Dearly loved husband of the former Clara Ann Schlabach, whom he married September 10, 1919, Lovingly remembered by his children, Calvin and his wife Marion of RR 1, Bright, Willard and his wife Gladys of Tavistock, Beulah (Mrs. Henry Ruby) of RR 1, Tavistock, Margaret (Mrs. Roy Ruby) of Kitchener, Inez (Mrs. Oliver Ramseyer), Ellen (Mrs. Elton Leis), all of Tavistock, Howard and his wife Ada of RR 1, New Hamburg, Audrey (Mrs. Harold J. Bender) of RR 1, Tavistock, Carol (Mrs. Irvin Wagler) of RR 1, Shakespeare. Sadly missed by a son-in-law, Lester Yantzi of Tavistock; four brothers, Aaron of Tavistock, Elmer of Hepworth, Steve of Millbank and Michael of Wellesley, two sisters, Mrs. Annie Erb of Baden and Mrs. Rachel (Eevin Bender) of Tavistock and one brother-in-law, Ezra Stere of Stratford. Lovingly remembered by 32 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Emanuel was predeceased by one daughter, Mrs. Helen Yantzi, August 10, 1985 and one sister, Ida Stere. Friends and relatives may call at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg after 7 p.m. this evening, until Sunday, Feb. 9, 1986, at noon, when transfer will be made to the Steinman Mennonite Church, for service at 3 p.m. Rev. Fred Lichti and Rev. Vernon Zehr officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. The Kitchener-Waterloo Record 7 Feb 1986 ___________________ Gerber, Emanuel, son of Michael and Veronica (Jantzi) Gerber, was born in Wilmot Twp., Ont., Feb. 14, 1897; died at Stratford General Hospital on Feb. 6, 1986; aged 88 y. On Sept. 10, 1919, he was married to Clara Ann Schlabach, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Calvin, Willard, and Howard), 6 daughters (Beulah - Mrs. Henry Ruby, Margaret - Mrs. Roy Ruby, Inez - Mrs. Oliver Ramseyer, Ellen - Mrs. Elton Leis, Audrey - Mrs. Harold Bender, and Carol - Mrs. Irvin Wagler), 32 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 brothers (Aaron, Elmer, Steve, and Michael), and 2 sisters (Annie - Mrs. David Erb and Rachel - Mrs. Ervin Bender). He was preceded in death by one daughter (Helen Yantzi) and one sister (Ida Stere). He was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Feb. 9, in charge of Vernon Zehr and Fred Lichti; interment in Steinmann Church Cemetery.
