  • Notes
    • BEAVER, CHARLES has been claimed as a pioneer Chatham doctor, practising there in 1864, according to Victor Lauriston's "Centennial Chronicle of Kent Doctors. " It appears that he returned to Chatham after being in Waterloo, and remained there for the rest of his career, apart from a short stay in Brantford. His first notice appeared in the Waterloo Chronicle:

      C. Beaver Botanic Physician, a student de la faculte de Medicine de Paris, and late from Chatham, C. W. has located at Waterloo, and may be found at his residence opposite Christoph Huether's Hotel, King St. where he can be consulted upon all forms of acute and chronic disease. June 11, 1866

His card also appeared in Der Deutsche Canadier of November 12, 1867, and in Der Canadischer Bauernfreund of May 14, 1868. The only other local mention concerned the death of his seven month old daughter, in April, 1868.

In addition to his French medical education, he ob-tained his M. D. degree from the Eclectic Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1859. Listed in the Ontario Medical Register, he was certified by the Eclectic Medical Board in 1869. He died in Chatham in September, 1890.
